Size Guide

Every Amber James piece is measured in millimetres and centimetres, with inches shown for chains and bracelets. Choose hoops for each piercing, find your ring size and pick the right necklace or bracelet length. Still unsure? Ask us and we’ll help.

Earring size guide

Hoop and huggie sizes are the inner diameter in millimetres. The right size depends on where your piercing sits.

Amber James earring measurement guide showing hoop sizes for lobe, tragus, conch, helix and rook piercings

Recommended hoop sizes

Piercing Hoop size Good to know
Lobe (first piercing) 7–8 mm Classic everyday huggies
Second lobe 6–7 mm Slightly smaller for a graduated stack
Third lobe 5–6 mm The smallest, closest to the edge
Tragus 5–8 mm Small, snug hoops or tiny studs
Conch 10–11 mm Larger hoop that wraps the outer ear
Helix 7–8 mm Upper cartilage, along the outer rim
Rook 6–7 mm Inner fold of the upper ear

How to find your perfect fit

  1. Measure from the centre of your piercing hole to the edge of your ear, in millimetres.
  2. Add about 1 mm for a snug, close-fitting huggie.
  3. Or add about 2 mm for a looser, more relaxed fit.

Thick lobes? Go up one size. Building a stack? Choose a smaller size for each piercing as you move up the ear.

Ring size guide

We use UK ring sizes (letters). Measure a ring that already fits the right finger, or measure your finger.

Measure a ring you own

  1. Choose a ring that fits the finger you’re buying for.
  2. Measure the inside diameter edge to edge in millimetres.
  3. Find the closest diameter in the chart.

Measure your finger

  1. Wrap a strip of paper or thread around the base of your finger.
  2. Mark where it overlaps and measure the length in millimetres. This is the circumference.
  3. Find the closest circumference in the chart.

Measure at the end of the day when fingers are warmest. If you are between sizes, choose the larger size, especially for wide bands.
